An Interview with Jack Welch, former head of General Electric

Show: ING Global Conference

Jack and Valerie talk about the four fundamental principles of winning in business as detailed in Welch’s book “Winning”. Welch explains that the mission of a successful company can be meaningful and real but the values of winners mean having behaviors to achieve success and that excellence and integrity are the tickets to get into place and why he values candor so highly. He said that GE was filled with superficial congeniality when he arrived and he directed the company toward having candor and face-to-face engagement which resulted in “real conversation”. Welch explained that successful business heroes aka winners find things elsewhere and share everywhere. That, he said, is real winning value.
